New Zealand Fashion Festival was launched in March 2010. The 2011 event includes ‘Fashion Collections’, runway shows and free events throughout Auckland.
Visit K Road, the most intriguing place in the centre of Auckland on Thursday 24 March from 7pm to experience diverse takes on fashion, learn homely heritage crafts and be dazzled by moving image art.
7pm, Doris de Pont from the New Zealand Fashion Museum presents: Heritage Homecraft Skills - learn how to hem a frock, wash different textiles, make your treasured garment last. BYO garment. The Fashion Museum is a bold, new, innovative organisation dedicated to presenting New Zealand's rich fashion history and making it relevant. Exhibitions ‘pop up’ at non-conventional venues for the public to visit and enjoy. They are then recorded and made accessible on-line at www.fashionmuseum.org.nz .
8pm, Jimmy D Children of Vision showcases the autumn/winter collection, alongside new season deliveries from international and local designers. The night will also debut a new campaign film directed by up-coming image maker Oliver Rose.
