EcoDay is Auckland's premier sustainable living festival and provides visitors with information and inspiration to incorporate green principles and practices into their everyday lives.

Highlights for EcoDay 2011 include:
• an EcoExpo showcasing a wide variety of green businesses promoting sustainable products and services in the areas of renewable energy, water conservation, waste minimisation, fair trade and organics
• a green marketplace where visitors can purchase eco-friendly and fair-trade products
• a Green Transport Zone featuring the latest in hybrid and fuel efficient vehicles and electric and manual bicycles
• a recycled arts and crafts market featuring products made from found, recovered, reused and recycled materials
• a range of free and practical workshops on topics such as rainwater harvesting, organic vege gardening, composting and growing microgreens
• screenings of films including eco-documentaries and shorts
• free tours to selected local green homes
• a kid's zone with storytelling, facepainting, clowns and creepy crawlies
• delicious natural and healthy food and drink

Between 2 and 3:30 Water Whisperers Tangaroa film will be playing in the Bowling Club. In this beautifully photographed film ten stories of environmental redemption are told: from the Poor Knights Marine Reserve to the Hurunui and Rakaia Rviers, and including the wonderful Mike O'Donnell describing how a toxic Coromandel waterway was rescued from arsenic and effluent poisoning by sensible planting and community commitment.

EcoDay sponsor Bosch will be giving away a super efficient front loading washing machine (RRP $1399) and all you need to do is visit the Bosch stand at EcoDay and enter the competition!

Entry to EcoDay is free and nearly 90 green businesses, government agencies, NGO’s and artisans will be participating. The event is staged in close proximity to the EcoMatters Sustainable Living Centre and the Trusts EcoHouse, both of which will be open to the public on EcoDay.

EcoDay visitors are encouraged to take public transport to the event, which can be easily accessed by both bus and train. For information regarding public transport options visit www.maxx.co.nz.

Presented by EcoMatters Environment Trust with support from Auckland Council, The Trusts Charitable Foundation, Bosch, Good Magazine and The Radio Network
