Saturday 19th March, 2011 is the date for the 8th Auckland Half Ironman.
Over the last seven years there has been steady growth in the fields with many choosing the Auckland Half Ironman as their first event over the distance. Elite competitors have also fronted up with Cameron Brown, Bryan Rhodes, Clas Bjorling, Gordo Byrn and Scott Molina to name a few.
The race starts at Maraetai with a 2km swim and is followed by a 90km bike that covers much of the old Auckland Ironman bike course. It finishes with a 21km three lap picturesque run around the foreshore of the Hauraki Gulf.
A short course option is also available. Swim 1km, Bike 30km, Run 7km.
Please note that there is no prize money for the short course event, but every competitor does receive a pair of Orca tri pants.
