Toddler Day Out and Great Parenting Fair

Make sure you don’t miss this year's annual Toddler Day Out and Great Parenting Fair in West Auckland!

More than 18,000 people attended the seventh annual event in 2010. The organisers promise that this year’s event will be just as great, and as much fun as previous years, with something for everyone at the free fun event for families with children under the age of five. Their big brothers and sisters haven’t been left out either!.

The Stadium and grounds will be full of colourful information stalls and quality early childhood education equipment to buy. There is a stage with non-stop family friendly performers of song, dance, plays and puppet shows, some great speakers (and interpreters for the deaf!). The event is full of children’s interactive learning activities, Active movement and gym equipment, rides, inflatables and vertical bungy jumps for toddlers, face-painting and lots more. There are many giveaways and prizes for everyone.

Opportunities will be there for parents to talk to experienced family support agencies, to get your toddler’s car seat checked out, to learn more about supporting your child’s development of physical, mental and emotional skills, as well as safety around their homes and in the water. Parents will be able to get some great parenting tips on positive parenting and support strategies. There will also be advice on self care from holistic health practitioners and you might even decide to get a quick massage!

While there will be food-stalls, including sausage sizzles, healthy takeaways and refreshments, families are encouraged to bring their own picnic and make it a memorable family occasion. There’s parking galore near the Stadium, just follow the signs and traffic directors, or park at Central Park Drive or Te Pai Place.

The Toddler Day Out and Great Parenting Fair is primarily about children under five-years-of age, their older brothers and sisters… And supporting great parenting for them.

The event aims to raise community awareness and develop an understanding of the importance of Early Childhood Education and Positive Parenting skills.

Jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Social Development's SKIP project, the Waitakere Trusts, and Auckland City Council, the Toddler Day Out and Great Parenting Fair is organised by Violence Free Waitakere in collaboration with ECE Waitakere and Safe Waitakere.
