Tomas was born in Czech Republic, played with the best Czech baroque ensembles – Musica Florea, Capella Regia Prague and others. Was principal in Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra in Kuala Lumpur. Associate Principal in Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.

Baroque Music
There are so many beautiful churches and chapels around the country that are silent witnesses of the cultural and transcendental connection between New Zealand and Europe. I would like to bring life to these silent witnesses and make them speak again to all who would like to listen, by filling these wonderful buildings with the magical tones of Baroque music.
Why baroque music? Because during the Baroque period classical music sounded only in churches and was thus the only place where people gathered to listen to concerts (concert halls did not yet exist). Another reason is to take our listeners back to the roots from which today’s music developed. I want to offer to our audience completely new and beautiful world of baroque music in authentic interpretation on period instruments. I want to share the beauty of authentic interpretation on period instruments with everybody who is willing to open their heart and soul to these magical vibrations.
What is so magical about baroque music? Firstly is the way how Baroque music was written, the rules that baroque composers followed are based on divine principle which magically uplift the soul to heaven spheres, and secondly our performer’s use of period instruments which makes our concerts sound as it did 400 years ago. The old instruments were not as loud as modern instruments (string instruments used gut strings and different bow, harpsichord is more subtle then piano) and the pitch was lower compared to today’s pitch. Thus baroque instruments are quieter but also gentler to our soul and lower pitch allows the string instruments to have much bigger range of harmonics and that means more colors of sound.
