The Trans-Siberian Railway journey is one of the most famous and romantic railways in the world. Built between 1890 and 1905, it starts in Russia’s Pacific Ocean port, Vladivostok, and ends 10,000 kms later in Moscow. It traverses almost a third of the globe, making several stops where travellers are able to venture forth and acquaint themselves with this intriguing country and its indomitable people.
Our presenter Rob Bickford declares that the most vexing decisions to make each day on the train are whether to snack on homemade pirozhki (potato cakes) bought from an old lady at a station stall, or cheese and crackers presented by your neighbour.
About Rob Bickford:
Rob Bickford is a professional photographer and tour organiser/guide who travelled on this great train journey in the autumn of 2007. He will present a series of images from that trip and talk about the excitement and discoveries awaiting passengers along the way.
