St Paul St Gallery is pleased to present the third exhibition of the Print Season 2011, by South Island artists Barry Cleavin and Jason Greig.

Barry Cleavin and Jason Greig have both had a long, passionate and evolving relationship with print. Cleavin has explored its many traditional forms including as lithography and etching as well as making a recent move into realm of digital print. His work uses humour and a compelling graphic sensibility to interpret and comment on society, saying "Mostly I reduce the world to absurdity; in that form it is manageable." Greig’s work takes a darker tack, exploring the macabre and sinister sides of the human psyche. His practice pushes the boundaries between painting and print, exploring the possibilities of monoprinting and creating sensuous and brooding images. The exhibition will present recent and older work from both artists, illuminating their ongoing engagement with print.

Jason Greig will also be showing new work at Ivan Anthony Gallery, Level 1, ANZ Building, Corner East Street & Karangahape Road, 30 March - 23 April, 2011.

The Print Season 2011 looks at ways that artists respond to the presence and history of print in New Zealand as well as the impacts of new technology on the ways in which we create and relate to printed matter.
