The beguiling Canadian singer-songwriter, Martha Wainwright makes a long awaited return to New Zealand performing her own musical repertoire, songs from her family and from her gorgeous tribute to Edith Piaf.
As part of the famous McGarrigle/Wainwright musical dynasty – much-loved folk-singer mother Kate McGarrigle, Grammy Award winning father Loudon Wainwright III and multi-talented brother Rufus Wainwright – Martha was engulfed in a sea of music from birth. Her moving and sensitive performance in the Leonard Cohen tribute concert, Came So Far For Beauty, left star-struck audiences in its wake and her stream of highly praised gigs at top music festivals in Europe and North America demonstrate why the Brooklyn-based chanteuse has crowds clamouring for more.
