Presented as part of Auckland Fringe 2011: Fairy Tales that Bite with The Dust Palace Troupe & Petit Cheval Burlesque.

Once upon a time, fairy tales had bite. Magical forests were populated by beasts with a gleam in their eye, & enchanted kingdoms had folks with some wicked ways!

Deep in the Forest: A Cautionary Cabaret, will get the blood pumping through the veins of the Brothers Grimm; Hans Christian Andersen will be wearing a cheeky grin. Besides, when your nursery is The Dust Palace & nanny is played by Petit Cheval, you know it's not a boring story-time. So, boys & girls, grab your mug of hot coco & snuggle up to your cuddly. Your bedtime stories are about to begin.

Cassette Number Nine will be transformed into a little witch's cottage, deep in the Fringe Festival Forest for the show. Fairy Tales & Cautionary Fables will be blended with politically astute cabaret, skilled performance & provocative audience fun, creating a sexy, smart & subversive night for grown-up kids. Our talented performers use song, burlesque, aerial skills & other circus arts, dissolving all boundaries. It's more than the adrenaline of circus, the titillation of burlesque, the charm of comedy or the heart of theatre. Leave your inhibitions at the door, we'll take them for a walk while you're inside.

Warning: The Wolf Bites, but so might Snow White! Need we mention this show contains adult themes...

pity Cassette Number Nine is a bad venue to host such an awesome show. Even if you pay for a seated table you end up with a crap view as people stand in front of you or you are sitting in a booth with your back to the stage or side on to the stage.
All the front tables and seats are usually reserved for the performer's friends and partners too - so don't expect to get a good seat if you apy for a seated ticket.
You are better off buying a 'standing' ticket.
