Tonight we celebrate 81 years of Speedway at the "Showgrounds". The first Speedway meeting was Boxing Day, 1930. A full program of the Stockcar Classes and those dare devils on the motorcycle sidecars racing elbow to elbow at over 130 kph with no brakes.

The Stockcars and SuperStocks will be racing to win by fair or foul tactics. Wayne Hemi is planning to have New Zealand's most expensive SuperStock the "Red Waka" finished in time for this Anniversary meeting. The Youth MiniStocks are also on the program.

To finish the night at the Robertson Holden International Speedway there is an action-packed ramp demolition derby race. Spectacular fun as the cars leap in the air before crashing to earth and total destruction.
