Making Baby Float CD/DVD Launch

Norman Meehan, Bill Manhire, Hannah Griffin and a cast of wonderful musicians, present the 'Making Baby Float' Rattle Records CD/DVD launch concert.

The concert was recorded in the Hunter Council Chamber on Thursday 14 April 2011 during the first of this year's NZSM Hunter Series Concerts. The concert featured NZSM Associate Professor Norman Meehan's song settings of poems by VUW Professor Bill Manhire, some written especially for Hannah Griffin to sing and is a follow-up album to the superb Buddhist Rain CD, released in 2010. If you feel any affinity for the music of Joni Mitchell or Randy Newman (to name a couple of people who have been at least in part an inspiration for this music) then you should enjoy this one. Other musicians featured on the recording include NZSM Head of Jazz Nick Tipping, Wade Reeve, NZSM Wind Lecturer Colin Hemmingsen, Ruth Armishaw and Mara Simpson – a wonderful band and lovely music.
