Artist's reception 5pm Thursday 15 December - all welcome.
Northland based Artist Lester Hall is an anti-art artist. He calls his work pop art. He takes upbeat optimistic graphics of kiwiana, and gives them a darker undercurrent by introducing Maori and Pakeha symbols or current conversation which can provoke the viewer into a political or social self analytical discussion about Maori and Pakeha and NZ's cultural evolution. Lester's latest works include an homage to Charlie McPhee, who lived till the ripe of old of 92 in Auckland and was known as the Velvet Gauguin. This exhibition other works questions our ideas on Queen Liz, cannibalism, and Hone Heke's prowess as an axeman. If you are up for an exhibition which will have you discussing the monarchy, cannibalism, the spirit of NZ, and woodchopping at the dinner table - I suggest you head to Loft Design Store in Kerikeri, pronto.
