Labour believes arts, culture and heritage play an essential role in defining our nation’s unique identity. New Zealand has an international reputation for being creative and innovative. Our creative industries make a strong contribution to the growth of our economy, offering exciting employment for New Zealanders and developing high-tech creative capability which attracts world-wide attention.

Labour will announce our plan to support and grow the creative sector. Labour has a long and proud tradition of investment and leadership in the arts which has enable our creative industries to thrive. We look forward to detailing a policy which reinforces our commitment to growth, innovation and genuine partnerships. Labour values the energy, enterprise and confidence which result from cultural and creative expression and we look forward to lively feedback and discussion on our plan to take the sector forward.
