Inspired by the brass bands, blues and jazz music of New Orleans from the early 1900’s, Wellington’s, Roseneath Centennial Ragtime Band, “play pretty for all the people”. Their music is not about ego and complexity, but the human warmth, loose thrills, and hand-me-down melodies that reach all around the world, from the great crescent city of New Orleans to the windy city of today.
In the melting pot of turn of the century New Orleans, jazz, the blues and ragtime was the music for every occasion and station in life – from christening parties to funeral parades, and every liquor-fuelled dance floor in between. The Roseneath Centennial Ragtime Band specialise in this hypnotic and irresistible musical force of nature that pulls heartstrings, shakes booties and stomps feet.
Mixing brothel swaggers with gospel shouts are Dale “Dr” Jellyman on the honky-tonk piano, his brother Hamish, (trombone), brothers Mike (trap drums) and Adrian Jensen (guitar), Matt Enright (trumpet), Frankie Curac (clarinet) and Dan Yeablsey (contrabass).
The band don’t need much, just a piano, a few chairs and a barrel of beer!
Get your feet stompin’ with the Roseneath Band.
