In this Friday Lunchtime Concert in the Adam Concert Room at NZSM's Kelburn Campus, Irish pianist Isabelle O'Connell will present a programme of contemporary works for piano including:
Ian Wilson - Big
Michael Norris - Amato
Elaine Agnew - Seagull
Henry Cowell - Aeolian Harp
Jane O'Leary - Forgotten Worlds
Donnacha Dennehy - Reservoir
James Mobberley - Caution to the Winds

Originally from Dublin and currently based in New York City, Isabelle O’Connell is one of Ireland’s most successful pianists, with a growing international career that has taken her across four continents. Since her acclaimed Carnegie Hall debut in 2002, she has performed as soloist and chamber musician around the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Italy and Ireland.

Isabelle O’Connell has a reputation for being a dynamic interpreter and energetic advocate of music by 20th and 21st century composers. Isabelle has performed with the Crash Ensemble, joining them on tours of Australia and the United States, performing at the Canberra International Chamber Music Festival, Sydney Conservatoire, Kennedy Center and Le Poisson Rouge in New York. She has also performed with John Adams at Carnegie's Zankel Hall, Meredith Monk at the Bang on a Can Summer Festival, Alarm Will Sound, the New Zealand String Quartet and has appeared as concerto soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland.
