New work taking flight! The Matariki Development Festival 2011 is an international indigenous playwrights’ festival developing four new plays by indigenous writers, presented as four rehearsed readings for your viewing pleasure! Nau mai, haere mai!
Circa Theatre, Thursday June 23, 6.30pm: Breaking Ground
Nga Korero: Presenting a panel discussion with rangatira of Maori theatre, playwrights Riwia Brown, Briar Grace-Smith, Hone Kouka and Apirana Taylor talking about ground-breaking theatre.
City Gallery, Friday June 24, 1pm: Rehearsed Readings:
‘The Fury' by Hinekaa Mako (NZ), Dramaturgy by Riwia Brown (NZ)
'I, George Nepia' by Hone Kouka (NZ), Dramaturgy by John Vakidis (NZ)
