What is a taniwha? Is it to be feared or revered? According to Maori, taniwha swim in the seas around New Zealand acting as territorial guardians of the land. This winter the stories of the taniwha are coming to life at Auckland Museum with spectacular live performances.
In this free 20-minute show, see our mammoth taniwha as it’s unveiled to the public for the first time and discover the compelling story of man’s relationship with the taniwha.
Taniwha! has been developed in collaboration with Erth, the company who brought you Dinosaur Petting Zoo. During the July school holidays there will be more mesmerising live performances with an interactive stage show delving into the stories of these fascinating creatures.
