Real life rockstars! All musicians in this year’s Smokefreerockquest get the real life experience of rock stardom – performing on the big stage in their region’s major venue.

The entrants perform in a theatre with full lighting, sound system and a mosh-pit packed with fans - an experience that inspires the young artists, raises the level of performance and gives peers and parents a great insight into the aspirational values of music careers. Play-offs are in the afternoon with the top eight bands called back for a final beginning at 8pm. The Nerines will be the guest band to perform while the judging is done.

Smokefreerockquest is New Zealand’s only nationwide, live, original music, youth event. Now well into its second decade, it reaches audience numbers in excess of 24,000 every year.

In Palmerston North the event will include the Smokefreerockquest Circus - an expo with workshops, hands-on displays and give-aways.
