The "1st Annual Palmy Variety Show" showcases the best of the Manawatu, including 2011 Billy T Awards nominee Nick Gibb, Air Force bands and acts, Dean McKerras School of Dance, and local bands Eugene (featured on the 2012 Olympics CD) and The Vespas. Also featured are local schools, bands and cultural groups.
This great night of entertainment doesn't just showcase all the Manawatu has to offer, but is also raising money for The Missing Wingman Trust (RNZAF). This chosen charity has been set-up to look after the families of Air Force personnel who are killed or seriously injured whilst serving New Zealand, such as recent plane crashes and other tragedies. The charity provides education grants, welfare support and provides for lost opportunities for the families left behind by such tragedies.
