Te Taumata Exhibition Series 2011 at Mangere Arts Centre - Ngā Tohu o Uenuku is part of a series of exhibitions at four council galleries across the Auckland region in celebration of Matariki, the Maori New Year.

Te Taumata is conceptualised in the English language as a mark of excellence and is the threshold at which a level of quality and distinction can be identified. With this series we honour the contribution of four outstanding contemporary Maori artists with exhibitions in four venues across Auckland. At the time of Matariki, it is fitting that we celebrate such artistic achievement.

Te Taumata Exhibition Series 2011, curated by Karl Chitham, is presented by Toi Whenua as a significant project of the Matariki Festival 2011, with the support of Auckland Council, Toi o Manukau and Creative New Zealand.

Gallery hours: Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm, weekends 10am – 4pm.
