News and images of disasters have unsettled many, including children and teens. This workshop will offer ways to support and to build up the resilience of anyone anxious about possible future disasters - whatever their age. It will also look at how families can build up their coping skills to get through the disasters - as well as tragedies of life in general - and recover from them well. A very practical, reassuring and motivating workshop for all parents: to help themselves, and their children, and others who may be impacted by tragedy.

Skylight:
Skylight has a special interest in seeing New Zealand families effectively supported when they are impacted by change, loss, trauma and grief – whatever the cause. They have respected expertise in how these factors effect adults, as well as children and teens, and draw on great experience and contemporary research so they can provide the best ideas and support information available for those facing tough times.

They are also well known for their very practical and innovative support resources, training workshops, counselling and support group services. They have played a leading role in providing crucial grief and trauma support after recent disasters in both New Zealand and Australia.
