Rhys Darby and David Farrier discuss comedy.
“Dying is easy; comedy is hard” once proclaimed the English actor Donald Wolfit. How right was he? (about the comedy, we mean).
Join international star of stage and screen, Rhys Darby, as he talks about comedy with interviewer (and not un-funny person himself) broadcaster David Farrier. What’s the difference between being a comedy actor, a stand up comedian or just a funny person who tells the best joke in the office?
Shaped by questions contributed from the audience in the weeks before, this will be quite unlike a standard talking head session.
Rhys Darby first gained attention in the United States as Murray in HBO's Flight of the Conchords. Already a stand-up comedy veteran, Darby made his feature film debut in Yes Man and followed that with more feature film appearances. Never far from his stand-up roots, he has performed his unique brand of humour in places as far flung as Iceland to the Falkland Islands, and in festivals from Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival to Montreal’s Just for Laughs. He has toured a new show, It’s Rhys Darby Night to London, Edinburgh and NZ last year. His stand-up has been described as a sensational blend of sound effects, characterisations and askew observations.
Do you have a question about comedy? Email it to email@example.com or tweet it to @DandMtalks and it will be put through to Rhys for his consideration.
