The Man in Black - The Johnny Cash Story. Two hours of Cash’s magnificent music, interwoven with the story of his rise to stardom, his fight for survival and his eventual redemption.
The show explores his relationships - with hardened prisoners, to the beautiful June Carter, and lots in between. Johnny Cash was dealt a very tough hand early in life, but through his music and dedication, he became a legend throughout the world.
Enjoy Ring of Fire, I Walk the Line, Folsom Prison Blues, Sunday Mornin’ Coming Down, Get Rhythm, A Boy Named Sue, Hey Porter, and a dozen more hits.
Tex Perkins will lead The Tennessee Four in a night of memorable music.
The Man In Black is two hours of Cash’s magnificent music, interwoven with the story of his rise to stardom, his fight for survival and his eventual redemption. The show won the 2010 Helpmann Award Best Australian Contemporary Concert.
“The lanky charismatic Perkins is way too good an artist in his own right to merely impersonate. Perkins interprets Cash yet maintains faith with his icon."
“The tools of Perkin’s trade are deep felt emotion, fine tuned expression and utter authenticity. Instinctively, he balances passion and restraint. It’s a beautiful thing to watch.” –-The Mercury, Hobart
“Tex Perkins blazes through this two hour tribute to Johnny Cash, the hard-living, hell-raising American singer-songwriter…singing blues, country, gospel and rock.” - Sun Herald, Sydney
