Te Kōkī, the New Zealand School of Music presents the 2011 Hunter Series, a series of Thursday evening concerts featuring music making of the very highest calibre.
Bridget Douglas, principal flute with NZSO, and Rachel Thomson, piano, present a recital featuring '20th Century Classics’ for flute and piano from around the world:
Hindemith: Sonata for Flute and Piano
Burton: Sonatina for flute and piano
Body: Rainforest
Dutilleux: Sonatine for flute and piano
Whitehead: Taurangi
Bartok: Suite Paysanne Hongroise
The music of such well known composers as Hindemith, Bartok and Dutilleux will be performed alongside two special works by acclaimed New Zealand composers Gillian Whitehead and Jack Body. Rachel and Bridget have enjoyed performing together for many years and have released two CD’s on the Trust Records label.
This will be Bridget’s last recital before taking a 12 month sabbatical to play in Germany.
The Hunter Concert Series are concerts in which the NZSM presents professional concerts of superb music. Further concerts in this 2011 series are on August 18, September 15, October 20 and November 24.
This event will take place in the Hunter Council Chamber, Hunter Building, Victoria University of Wellington. Parking can usually be found on Kelburn Parade, or behind the Hunter Building by entering Gate 1. Seating is limited to 150, so to be sure of a ticket, we encourage you to pre-purchase online. Remaining seats will be available for door sale.
