NZSM hosts NZTrio: Chamber Music Masterclass

Auckland-based NZTrio (violinist Justine Cormack, cellist Ashley Brown and pianist Sarah Watkins) give a masterclass in chamber music to students at the New Zealand School of Music. This will take place in the Adam Concert Room on NZSM's Kelburn Campus: observers are welcome (free entry).

NZTrio thrives on connecting with audiences through intimate and exhilarating performances. The trio’s refreshing programmes juxtapose classical masterpieces with brilliant contemporary works, mix musical cultures and genres, and involve collaborations with a broad range of international artists. Critical acclaim for the group’s performances extends to their expanding catalogue of recorded work: 'Spark' (a); 'Bright Tide Moving Between' and Flourishes'. The first two were finalists for best Classical Album at the NZ Music Awards in 2006 and 2008 respectively.

This is the group's second visit to NZSM this year - they were part of the acclaimed 'O Cambodia' performance in March. They will also present a concert of contemporary works prior to this masterclass (12:10-1:10pm), part of the NZSM Friday Lunchtime Concert series.
