Due to injury Jian Liu, current piano lecturer at NZSM, has had to postpone his performance and so Polish-born pianist Anna Kijanowska steps in to present a lunchtime concert in the Adam Concert Room.
Anna is currently a member of the music faculty at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. Hailed by The New York Times (2007) as “an excellent young Polish pianist,” Anna Kijanowska (key-en-off-ska) has distinguished herself internationally as a recitalist, chamber musician and concerto soloist. Mr Leonard of All Music Guide noted: “Kijanowska's performances are amazingly virtuosic, astonishingly charismatic, astoundingly empathic and completely compelling.”
She will choose her concert programme from Mazurkas by Karol Szymanowski and Chopin, and works by Lei Liang and Grazyna Bacewicz.
She will follow this Lunchtime Concert with a Masterclass for NZSM piano students.
Both events are free, and audience (and observers) are welcome.
