Schubert - Sonata in A major, D959, Op Posth.
Farr - Sepuluh Jari (1996)
Schumann - Carnaval, Op 9
Godowsky - Concert paraphrase on Johann Strauss’ “Wine, Women and Song”

One of the world’s foremost Schubert interpreters, pianist Michael Endres took up the position of Professor of Piano at the University of Canterbury in 2009. His inaugural tour of the country in 2011 showcases his extraordinary expertise in the middle European Romantic tradition, and his inclusion of Gareth Farr’s tour de force Sepuluh Jari demonstrates that he has discovered the best of New Zealand as well.

German-born Michael Endres studied at the Juilliard School and with Peter Feuchtwanger in London. His extensive and multiple-prizewinning discography includes the complete sonatas of Mozart, Schubert, Weber and Bax, and complete solo works of Ravel and Schumann.

Presented by Wellington Chamber Music, this concert will be held in the Ilott Theatre, Wellington Town Hall.
