Experience the grandeur and frivolity of the Courts of Louis XIV (The Sun King) and Louis XV through music and fashion from the period.

Join Radio New Zealand Concert’s Clarissa Dunn and fashion and textile historian, Leimomi Oakes as they bring to life aspects of this fascinating world.

Models in period accurate costume will illustrate the fashions of the period, from the sumptuous satins of the Sun King's heyday in the 1660s, to the ruffled pastel concoctions made famous by Louis XV's mistress, Madame de Pompadour, through to a court dress for Louis XV's heir's Austrian bride, Marie Antoinette.

Music written by the court composers and musicians of the day adds ambience to the afternoon and includes works by Louis XIV’s ambitious court composer Jean-Baptiste Lully and his harpsichord teacher François Couperin.

Presented by Clarissa Dunn and Leomomi Oakes

Bianca Andrew - mezzo-soprano
Brendan O'Donnell - recorder
Jessica Lightfoot - Baroque violin
Oscar Laven - Baroque bassoon
Ariana Odermatt - harpsichord

All proceeds from this unique charity event benefit The Historical Arts Trust.
