Artsight's School Holiday programmes provide an opportunity for kids and teens to learn about and make artworks in a fun and inspiring atmosphere. Morning and afternoon classes are available for 5-10 year olds and children 10+. The three hour sessions explore a range of artists and media and processes with all students completing beautiful pieces of art to bring home.

Monday 18th July:
Kaleidoscope; 9am-12pm (5-10 yrs) - Learn how to use a printing press to create beautiful kaleidoscope prints using layers of colour.

Bugs, birds and butterflies; 1-4pm (5-10 yrs) - Artist Richard Killeen makes paintings using silhouettes of New Zealand insects and birds. Learn about his work and create a vibrant painting on canvas using stencilling techniques.

Tuesday 19th July:
Collagraph; 9am-4pm (5-10 yrs) - In this whole-day workshop, you will spend the morning making beautiful textured collagraphs and the whole afternoon printing them with various colours and papers

Wednesday 20th July:
What a relief; 9am-12pm (10+ yrs) - Try out some woodcut techniques and make a series of 3 coloured prints based on the 1 block reduction process.

Scrumptious! 1pm-4pm (5-10 yrs) - Learn about the food paintings of artist Wayne Thiebaud, and make your own delicious cake painting on canvas.

Wednesday 27th July
All That Glitters; 9am-12pm (5-10 yrs) - This is a sparkly painting workshop based on the art of New Zealand painter Reuben Paterson. You will learn some painting techniques and create your own glittery work on canvas to take home and keep.

A Thousand Words; 1pm-4pm (5-10 yrs) - Take part in a fun painting workshop, looking at painters that use text in their work. You will learn about composition and painting techniques to create your own work on canvas.

Thursday 28th July:
Painting with Light Time; 9am-12pm (10+ yrs) - Combine art and science to make amazing photograms. Use the darkroom to develop your own finished prints.

Layers of History; 1pm-4pm (5-10 yrs) - Delve into Wellington’s history and create your own painting, based on the work of mixed media artist Sandy Rodgers.

Friday 29th July:
Kaleidoscope; 9am-12pm (5-10 yrs) - Learn how to use a printing press to create beautiful kaleidoscope prints using layers of colour.

All courses are $30 and include all materials. Please bring morning or afternoon tea and lunch if staying over the lunch hour. Book 2 or more places and receive a 10% discount.
