The national brass music competition where top musicians from all around NZ and as far away as the UK and Japan compete for prestigious titles and trophies.
The competition features 4 events:
- 20 July, 7.30pm, Bruce Mason Centre - KBB Music Invitation Slow Melody contest, where selected top soloists compete, playing beautiful melodies for the national trophy. Table seating available with canapés and wine served.
- 21 July, 7.30pm, Bruce Mason Centre - Besson Brass Champion of Champions competition where all individual instrument winners play virtuosic solos to compete for the overall national title - fiercely competitive.
- 23 July, 10am, Byron Ave, Takapuna - Street March competition, with 28 bands in full uniform. Free for all the family, and quite a spectacle. Being judged by Owen Clarke, the Music Director of the Central NZ Airforce Band.
- 24 July, 2.30pm, Bruce Mason Centre - Scenic Hotels Band of the Year contest - bands compete to play the most entertaining programme for the audience.
Competition passes, concessions and group bookings available. Collections taken for Christchurch at most events, as musicians from Christchurch are competing. All ticket packages include a free programme booklet.
