A Dark Monday in The PumpHouse Coal Bunker
On Monday 18th July The PumpHouse script development initiative Dark Mondays presents a reading of the play ‘Barefoot on Queen’ by 24-year-old Hamilton writer and journalism student Melisa Martin.
‘Barefoot on Queen’ tells the story of young Leo, who has found himself with a headache on the very empty intersection of Queen Street and Victoria Street in Auckland. There he encounters his so-Hamilton mother, his stoner best friend, and later his bitch girlfriend, running into a few strangers along the way too. It is a bizarre, post-modern romance about the things we think we don't think about and the things we perhaps should.
‘Barefoot on Queen’ will be the second Dark Mondays play reading event held in The PumpHouse Coal Bunker studio and will be read by actors John Antony, Louise Wallace, Rachel King, Andrew Harrison, Adam Gerritt, Hailey Baines and Christina Cortese.
Theatre practitioners and the public are welcome to come along. A discussion forum will be held after the reading. Audience members will be invited to provide feedback. Entry to Dark Mondays play readings is by koha.
