In Symphonic Journey, a 40-minute concert, Kenneth Young conducts the Manukau Symphony Orchestra in Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8 in G Major. Composed in 1889, this symphony was dedicated to the Bohemian Academy of the Emperor Franz Joseph for the encouragement of Arts and Literature. It presents a glowing testimony of Dvorak’s musicality and melodic genius.

Dvorak’s 8th Symphony, while being one of his most complex, is built throughout on simple folk tunes. It combines a certain dark melancholy atmosphere with a bright optimism for the future.

Symphonic Journey is perfect for getting a quick taste of large-scale symphonic music – a perfect occasion to bring all the family!
