With Fr Neil Vaney sm.
In this talk we will look at how art reflects the impact of human technology in the great forests of Europe 400-1600AD. Art - sculpture, painting, architecture - often reflect how humans see the world of nature: as a place of danger, shelter, or a treasure trove to be ransacked. 5th century Europe was still heavily forested. This had changed dramatically by the end of the 16th century. This talk attempts to trace this journey in image and description.
See our other four talks in this series on forests: 14, 21 & 28 June and 12 July.
