Opening in Outerspace Gallery on Saturday 30 July 3pm – 4.30pm.
Sophie Kaiser’s ‘The Big Little Collaboration’ is an innovative exhibition shaped by public interest, participation and exchange. In this exhibition the curator hands control over both content and direction to those who participate. It is an exercise in process rather than outcome which, at the exhibition’s conclusion, will be as much of a surprise or revelation to the artist as to the participants.
Sophie would like to invite you to take part by selecting or creating a 2D or 3D object that will tell the viewer a little something about you and your experiences in our contemporary world. The show will incorporate all received objects and will continue to ‘grow’ throughout the exhibition, forming a unique representation of Auckland’s community through individually selected objects.
How to enter the exhibition:
1. Select or create a 2D or 3D object that you feel reveals something about you and your experiences in our contemporary world (maximum size 400mmx400mmx400mm).
2. Label the object (name, contact phone and email) and please specify if object is to be collected after the exhibition closes. Collection of objects will be from 12 - 26 August 2011 except on Sundays.
3. Write a paragraph answering the following questions (this will also be part of the exhibition):
- Why did you choose the object?
- How is the object significant to you?
4. Submit an image of yourself alongside the statement. The image needs to be in hard copy and is a voluntary option. This will also be part of the exhibition.
5. Submit all of the above to The Depot or contact Sophie. Ph: (09) 963 2331 (Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays) or email: sophie.kaiser@depotartspace.co.nz. This project is part of Sophie Kaiser’s Internship at The Depot.
