Das Rheingold

Greed, power, lust and passion are a heady combination in Wagner’s mythological masterpiece Das Rheingold, featuring New Zealand’s own Paul Whelan singing the lead role of Wotan and conducted by Eckehard Stier. The first opera in Wagner’s celebrated Der Ring des Nibelungen (The Ring Cycle), it is a tale of love, power and retribution and is a massive work with huge orchestral forces and a stand-out cast.
