"Life at Te Papa" by Professor Jonathan Mane-Wheoki, Head of Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland.

Before taking up his current position as Head of Elam School of Fine Arts in the University of Auckland, Jonathan Mane Wheoki served as Director of Art and Collections Services at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa from 2004 to 2009.

In this talk he reflects on the continuing debate over the disestablishment of the National Art Gallery and its merger with Te Papa. He shares his experiences and insights into the challenge of representing art in exhibitions, and research and collection development, within a national museum of natural sciences, history and Maori and Pacific culture.

Held on Level 2.

To book, phone 3077705, or email galleryfriends@aucklandartgallery.govt.nz.
