Collection overview.
Sir George Grey was a founding benefactor of Auckland Art Gallery, gifting 47 works of art to the Gallery from 1883-88. Of these, Grey purchased 33 on a single day: 13 February 1869 at London auction house Christie, Mason and Woods.
