Irene Ferguson - The contemporary portrait (Painting)
Join painter Irene Ferguson for an enlightening two day workshop looking at some of the ideas and techniques behind portrait painting. Participants will gain insight into aspects of recording the portrait as well as viewpoint (physical and conceptual) and composition. A range of technical aspects of painting will worked through including painting preparation, colour mixing and use of a limited palette. This workshop is suitable for those with some experience in drawing and painting.

Irene Ferguson bio:
Irene studied at the Otago School of Art and completed a MFA from the New York Academy of Art in 2005. She was a finalist in the London BP Portraiture Award and winner of the 2008 Adam Portraiture Award. Irene has exhibited widely as a painter and a printmaker and has held artist in residence in New Zealand, South Africa and Belgium.
In 2010 Irene travelled to Italy to work at the studio of Charles H. Cecil in Florence. Now based in Kapiti, Ferguson is a full time painter and exhibits at Suite Gallery, Wellington.
