Artsight's School Holiday programmes provide an opportunity for kids and teens to learn about and make artworks in a fun and inspiring atmosphere. Morning and afternoon classes are available for 5-10 year olds and children 10+. The three hour sessions explore a range of artists and media and processes with all students completing beautiful pieces of art to bring home.
Monday 17 January
Layers of colour9am-12pm (5-10yrs)
Learn how to use a printing press to create beautiful kaleidoscope prints using layers of colour.
Drawing on your imagination 1pm-4pm (5-10 years )
A fun workshop where you will use a variety of drawing techniques. Choose from some of our images or bring something to draw (and your imagination).
Tuesday 18 January
Readymade Time: 9am-12pm(5-10 yrs)
Learn about New Zealand artists who use ‘found’ materials to make their artworks. We will talk about what makes something an artwork and then combine a variety of recycled materials to create new and interesting 3 dimensional artworks.
Dotty about Art (5-10yrs) Time: 1pm-4pm
Learn about the art of New Zealand artist Sara Hughes and use a limited palette to create two abstract paintings on canvas.
Wednesday 19 January
Painting with light
Time:9am 12pm(10+yrs)
Combine art and science to make amazing photograms. Use the darkroom to develop your own finished prints
Razzle Dazzle ‘em
Time: 1pm-4pm( 5-10 yrs)
Learn about the glitter works of New Zealand Mark Curtis and make your own glitter work to keep.
Thursday 20 January
Flower Power 9am-12pm(5-10years)
This fun workshop looks at New Zealand and Pacific Island artists who feature flowers in their work. Make a lei or wall hanging and a pacific inspired painting to take home.
In relief 1pm-4pm(10+ years)
Try out some woodcut techniques and make a series of 3 coloured prints based on the 1 block reduction process.
Friday 21 January
