The Maketu Duathlon began in 2006 as a triathlon focused on creating an all-ages community based event. Now a duathlon, it has become a popular annual event attracting the fit and the wanna-be-fit from the Bay of Plenty to historic Maketu, a magical venue by the sea.
This year the Maketu Duathlon welcomes a new sponsor, The Rotary Club of Maketu, which has been a regular supporter since its inception. This year Maketu Rotary has stepped up to take over coordination of the event.
This event is about whanau across the generations participating together and having fun.
Carnival activities, music, and a sausage sizzle round out the celebration. Two courses: challenge and standard.
