Once again over the summer the popular Tours of the Napier Hill Cemetery will recommence. Join Hawke’s Bay Museum & Art Gallery Curator of Archives Gail Pope and author Peter Wells on a guided tour looking into the stories of some of the early colonists buried there - from the famous to the infamous. From someone who fell under a train after a high spirited picnic, to dying from fumes on a burning ship: from the elaborate tomb of a poisoned wife created by a guilty husband to the simple totara grave stones raised by friends to the departed.
Funds from the walks will go to the Hawke’s Bay Museum & Art Gallery redevelopment and the Napier Hill Cemetery planting project.
Bookings can be made by calling 06 835 7781 or emailing info@hbmag.co.nz. Please book early to make sure you don’t miss out!
