Another record crowd is expected for the ASB LunarFest 2011, The Year of the Rabbit on Saturday, 29th of January 2011, just five days before the arrival of the Year of the Rabbit on the 3rd of February.

With the same venue at TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre as previous years, over 40,000 people are expected to attend the free-admission event which is officially one of Auckland’s signature Asian cultural events along with others like the Auckland Lantern Festival and Pasifika Festival.

The ASB LunarFest 2011 is organized by World TV Limited, which is one of the major ethnic media organizations in New Zealand. World TV has been preparing for this event for several months since mid-2010. The event will provide a summer festive extravaganza with cultural performances, pop music, entertainment, oriental food stalls, traditional arts and crafts and what more to surprise the attendees are Chinese Idols and New Zealand Chinese Beauty Queens will also be present to grace the event.

ASB LunarFest 2011, The Year of the Rabbit will be started at 3:00 pm until 11:00 pm. There will be an official ceremony attended by the Prime Minister John Key with the Lion Dance at 8:00 pm.

The highlight of the event is the fireworks display at 10:00 pm which symbolizes the expulsion of all mishaps in 2010 and brings in fortune for the year of the Rabbit to the world.
