The Trons team up with Bachelorette for the final of their album release tour at the fantastic Leigh Sawmill.
Robot garage band the Trons have been on the road the last 3 years, gigging up and down the country as well as jamming themselves into flight cases four two tours of Europe. The band members are 4 machines made from junk and recycled electronics, playing normal human guitars, drums and keyboards. They are influenced by such bands as the Clean, Stereolab and the White Stripes playing their own style of original garage rock. Shows include live visuals from camera feeds off the instruments. The band have just released their first album and are on the road to party up and celebrate the release.
Since having her last album My Electric Family released on legendary US indie label Drag City Records in 2009, Bachelorette (aka Annabel Alpers) has been touring the USA, Europe and Australia with the likes of Will Oldham, Bill Callahan, Beach House, Animal Collective, Deerhunter and Lali Puna. She's just finished recording the fourth (and rumoured to be final) Bachelorette album, which is due for release in May 2011, and which promises to bring more of the psychedelic pop melodies and electric textures that define her unique sound. This will be Bachelorette's only Auckland area show since January 2010, and she won't be returning to NZ again until late 2011.
The Trons and Bachelorette will also team up for some human - machine collaboration at the end of the night.
The Sawmill is a great venue. The gig kicks off at 9.30pm, but the cafe runs from 6pm with wood fired pizzas and their own beers from the on-site microbrewery. Accommodation also available.
