Last Legs presents the "Bad Hobbits" Comedy Tour- Final Show

If you think that you must be a little offbeat to be a stand up comedian, Sydney stand up comedy team Last Legs do nothing to dispel that idea, by riding pushbikes between every gig.

“We love riding bikes and we love doing comedy, so we thought we’d combine the two,” says comic Domenick O’Kieran. “Some audiences think we’re going to be a bit lame because people have that image about bike riders. Then we start the show and we hear them calling their friends to say ‘come on down, these guys are actually good'.”

Domenick and fellow funnyman Peter Green had been performing stand up comedy in Sydney for more than ten years before launching the first Last Legs tour in 2003, a ride completely around Australia.

“We were bored with the city so we decided to get out into the country and play to a different type of audience. We did 200 shows and they went off. Because we were on bikes we could only travel a certain distance every day and we ended playing in towns other performers normally would drive right past. We played cattle stations, caravan parks, roadhouses, air force bases and real old fashioned country pubs. The highlight of our shows is when we get members of the crowd to show us their scars and tell us how they got them. There’re some pretty wild individuals in the outback and we ended up getting entertained by them as much they were entertained by us.”

The Bad Hobbits tour is Last Legs first foray into New Zealand. They’ll be riding from Dunedin to Christchurch via the west coast and finishing each day with a live comedy show.

“You’ll get some piano playing before the show, a couple of seasoned stand up comedians and the chance to tell your scar story to someone new in town who hasn’t heard it before. It’s always a great night and we even have balloon animals for the kids”.
