Andy C:
Voted ‘Best DJ’ for 12 years running, consistently the highest ranked drum and bass DJ in DJ magazine yearly poll, placed in the top 10 most influential people in dance music in Mixmag, named as the ultimate drum & bass icon by 1 Xtra, Andy C is the undisputed leader of the scene.
As a DJ, his unique ear and impeccable mixing skills, he draws massive crowds everywhere he goes. As an artist, he is behind the seminal 1993 ‘Valley Of The Shadow’ as half of Origin Unknown, as well as the top 20 ‘Bodyrock’, co-produced with Shimon, in 2001. As a label owner, he has turned independent label Ram Records he set up as a teenager into a formidable force, recently launching the career of Chase & Status and Subfocus.
Andy C launched his ‘Nightlife’ series in 2003. His choice of upfront anthems and the awesome energy in the mix turned ‘Nightlife’ into the ultimate snapshot of the scene.
Andy C – Night Life 5
It's been nearly 2 years since the last instalment of Andy C's critically acclaimed Nightlife series and to date sales have exceeded well over 100,000 units in the UK alone. The time is now upon us for the fifth in the series and with what's been happening in drum & bass of late and album releases on Ram over the past couple of years, this latest edition could topple the previous four with ease.
Andy C - Nightlife 5 is set to be the biggest of the series with a massive 61 tracks mixed over 2 CDs. Andy once again takes a snapshot of drum & bass - not for this moment in time, but for the next 12 months. Only Andy has the right and authority to demand such an up-front selection of tracks from the world of DnB and be greeted with an abundance of music to choose from. He's earned this privilege from his sheer enthusiasm for this music, scene, and DnB lifestyle he leads. There is never a bad time to discuss anything DnB related or get advice from him and there's been many a hit over the past few years where Andy has had some sort of input whether it's on Ram or not.
His enthusiasm is projected 10 fold whenever he steps behind a set of decks. One of only a handful of DJs still to use vinyl and dub plates he puts on a show that people want to watch. Andy's demographic is without doubt one of the widest of any DJ out there... Ranging from the people that saw him on his rise in the early / mid nineties (some are still regulars at Ram events now), right through to the audiences at some of the UK's largest under age events that attract around 5000 under 18s. He maintains this wide audience range by the way he can mix old skool classics seamlessly over today's hits whilst already being mixed... He can have a record beat-matched and in time within a few seconds of the needle hitting the vinyl, sometimes on 3 or even 4 decks at once. Andy still reigns supreme as the world best drum & bass DJ having picked up the last 2 years worth of awards. This is also the case for Ram as a label, which has collected the same for best record label.
