After rocking the hinges off when he last graced NZ for a 5 hour set in 2008, UK phenomenon Benji B is set to give 2011 a jump-start, with a certified Saturday night special at Bacco.

Known as a purveyor of the very best in underground styles, Benji wraps hip hop, garage, dubstep, soul, jazz, Detroit techno and all manner of future beat science, into a singular dancefloor journey. His monthly Deviation Sessions club nights are rated amongst London's very best, and have seen him hosting the likes of Moodymann, Sa-Ra Creative Partners, Skream, the first London date of Flying Lotus and Dam Funk, as well as our own Electric Wire Hustle on their recent 2010 global jaunt. His keen patronage of EWH (Chaser was amongst his Top 10 of 2009) is not a one-off, he's been a long time discerning champion of Kiwi sounds, pimping many of our finest Turnarounders to a wider audience, including Isaac Aesili, Recloose, Julien Dyne and more.

Benji's story really begins at the age of 14, after having his visions expanded by the radio sensei Gilles Peterson, and quickly deciding he wanted to 'produce that show'. Within two years he was doing just that, starting the Worldwide programme with the esteemed Mr Peterson on Kiss FM, before becoming the youngest producer at the BBC, when the now legendary show and brand moved on up.

Benji's own radio show was a flagship for 1Xtra at its 2002 launch, and has, over the past eight years, become one of the most respected and listened to shows on-air and on-line, gaining a unique reputation as a beat heads tip sheet for next level business. Recently taking over Mary Anne Hobb's much-coveted slot on Radio 1, Benji has solidified his place in the premier league of UK tastemakers, gaining an even bigger following for his deep, soulful and resolutely substantial tastes.

With access to the private, and future, stashes of the cream of forward-thinking producers, combined with the perspective and skills of a master mixologist, Benji B is the complete package.
