As has been widely reported in the media this morning, Jimmy Buffett experienced a major fall last night at the final moment of his encore performance at the Hordern Pavilion, the third of his three sold out Sydney shows on his first Australian tour in more than 20 years.

Jimmy spent the night in hospital and has since been discharged. He was scheduled to perform at the Auckland Viaduct on Te Wero Island this Saturday night but unfortunately, he will be cancelling the New Zealand show to allow himself time to recover from his injuries.

Jimmy would like to thank all of his fans for their support, and wants them all to know that he will return.

All tickets purchased from eventfinder.co.nz will be automatically refunded to the credit card used for the purchase in full on Friday 28th January 2011. Eventfinder asks that patrons please allow up to 3 days for this to appear on their credit card statement. Patrons with an enquiry regarding their refund can contact support@eventfinder.co.nz.

Margaritas Kiwi Parrotheads want to thank you Jimmy and the Coral Reefer Band for the best Par tay that we have ever been to. Our very first Flocking Concert! How damn good was it! We left our perch and flew down near the stage to be closer to the Feeding Frenzy! Flashing Margarita glass in wing and yes could these Parrotheads sing! We were heading for flight to where the Volcano Blows (Yes I put up my wing when Jimmy asked who would go, got tickets also to NZ) but we've put it on hold until we are told when this Parrothead will sing in a land that is Cold. We embrace you Jimmy with welcoming arms Aotearoa you'll visit with your Musical Charm! Cheers another Margarita for me.! Hell they don't make enough!

Margaritas Kiwi Parrotheads flocked at 5 Oclock Somewhere at the Tiki Bar for Boat Drinks. What an awesome sight Fellow Parrotheads ruffled feathers together preparing for flight to Margaritaville. We sang we danced we flapped up and down. We were truly in the 'Zone' when our Head Parrot took a leap! These Kiwi Parrotheads couldn't fly to catch him as he fell from the sky. We stood motionless on our perches. This Parrot was hurt! and the flock stood its ground we were not going to leave.. The Medicine Man who was sitting near by jumped over to where James B did lie. He's broken his Parrot Head and his wings gently torn so he'll quielty mend in his nest until morn. So Come Back, back to New Zealand, you know you won't make the same Mistakea. Get well soon Jimmy and let the Par tay begin again.

I was surprised that the concert seemed to be going to proceed after Jimmy's accident - any head injury can't be taken lightly - so, unfortunately, the cancellation hasn't come as a huge surprise. All we can hope is that the injury isn't too serious and Jimmy makes a full recovery so he can return at a later date and hopefully include other venues.

First Keith Richards leaves NZ after the Stones final concert in 2006 then falls out of a tree giving himself a head injury - now Jimmy isn't able to make it from his last Aussie show due to a head injury. Maybe Jimmy needs to bring the Jolly Mon out with him to help get rid of this curse to make it safe for everyone else who follows. (Parrotheads, if you don't know what I'm talking about get a copy of the CD/DVD set of Jimmy at Fenway Park, Boston.)

Gutted and whilst I appreciate that Jimmy has to look after his health first, still going to be down the gurgler for air fares and hotel.

I hope Jimmy fully recovers quickly and gets back to what he's doing best ASAP. And I hope he does make it back to Aotearoa - it's been way too long. Hoping it won't be another 22 years. Thanks for everything Jimmy - you're a legend.

JIMMY, your head may hurt your feet may stink and you don't love being in hospital,so the best ''medicine'' to help you make a full and quick recovery is a ''couple''of boat drinks or three in the City of Sails.....All your KIWI PARROT HEAD fans wish you a speedy recovery and hopefully we will see you in Auckland come saturday....take care...

PICK ME!I was lucky being born and raised in Margaritaville(aka Coral Gables, Florida)Attending high school in the early 70’s,I was able to get to live in the area where JB was becoming famous!I remember seeing him in small bars ie the “Flick” a bar right down the street from our house where my mates and I would sneak in (underage) to see a glimpse of him and hear a few songs!I remember skipping class at the Univ.of Miami and driving down to the Florida Keys to find where JB was playing that night! We R 3 generations of JB fans, my parents my hubby and I and THANK GOD our teenagers love him!We raised our kids on our Wooden Ketch, sailing, homeschooling and listening to JB through the Bahamas and Caribbean for 12 years, dropping anchor in NZ(years ago)and now we can’t believe that we get to see him perform in Auckland 40 something years after we first started loving his music! So thankful that he’s still coming to our beautiful country! Rest up JB!Feel better soon!NZ awaits your

Excellent. Glad to hear that Jimmy is well enough to do the show. He may have to turn the volume down if his head is still throbbing, but that won't keep us from having a good time. Hell, some of our heads may be throbbing too!

FANTASTIC NEWS - thanks for the update Michael and all information gratefully received!

I've read that Jimmy has been released from hospital (on his Margaritaville website) - GREAT!

Brother Buffett, from one Kappa Sig to another - hang tough my man cause we're hangin out to see you here in God's own!
The local Breville blenders are doing overtime preparing that frozen concoction that helps you hang on... and between us, we'll get you through the concert.

    A.E.K.D.B.

and as we say in NZ "Kia Kaha" (stay strong)!

I'm Keen to meet Mr Buffett. He doesn't known it but he's been a friend of mine for years.I was born in a banana republic and had barefoot children. My father was the son of son of a sailorman, and we lived on a salty piece of land.I was an altered boy with a bank of bad habits but I always wanted to own a beach house on the moon. Althought all the children were beautiful swimmers, captain amercia suggested that we would be better off somewhere over china, or on the coast of california. Come Monday, I hope you have read this and if I get to win I will shout you all a cheesburger in paradise. Even though Jmmy is from the far side of the world, I'd like to talk with him after the green flash at sunset about the tracks of his I recorded in 2008 over a few lovely days after being granted my license to chill. I am not really a piece of work, I'm more a nobody from nowhere but only time will tell if i will meet the stars on the water, under the southern cross. Kia Ora - Simon Gomez

Michael, thank you for your update. I think most of us are more concerned about Jimmy himself rather than the concert. Let's hope for good news all round.

Jimmy, If your coconut is in need of patch-up, Auckland has a world class neuro specialist...the same guy who took care of Keith Richards when he fell out of a coconut tree a few years back.

Best wishes and a speedy recovery

If Jimmy's unable to play on Saturday, we'll be doing Boat Drinks in his honour. Speedy Recovery.

What with a cyclone coming on Saturday and Jimmy falling of the stage in Sydney, starting to look like it will either be a superb night in Auckland where everything goes right, or it might get cancelled. For those of us spending a fair bit of money to get to Auckland, we certainly hope Jimmy is well enough to come over and play, and that the cyclone blows through before the concert starts.

I will be watching the news with interest today before heading to Auckland tomorow morning. Let's hope Jimmy makes this landfall and we all have a great celebration of his recovery in Auckland on Saturday night.
