A dazzling array of irises on display in colours that will have you wondering what combinations are around the corner.
Entry is free, but you will not be able to resist buying a raffle ticket or two.
Anyone is welcome to exhibit an iris (no entry fee) they have grown in their garden and will be eligible for one of the three section prizes of $50 - bearded, non-bearded and NZ bred. There is also a $200 prize, sponsored by Tristram Holdings, for the Queen of the Show, only NZIS members are eligible for this award. Joining the NZ Iris Society costs $30-35 and can be arranged when entering an iris for exhibition.
Plant sales tables selling orchids, perennials and of course irises will tempt anyone who has a spare spot in the garden. Also on sale is fertiliser for growing irises, also suitable for peas, beans and strawberries- only $5 per kg. Display of a miniature garden can be perused amongst the backdrop of the 'Rainbow flower'.
Iris members will be available to answer any questions.
