The newly formed “Howard Morrison Jnr Trio” pay homage to New Zealand’s greatest entertainer Sir Howard Morrison OBE by bringing to life a musical collage of songs that not only defined an era but also helped catapult the Howard Morrison Quartet & Sir Howard into the pages of New Zealand’s musical history.

The HMJ Trio have created a show that embraces the same performance principles, style and flair of the world-renowned Maori show bands of yesterday but always with the attitude of striving to fulfil the needs of an ever-demanding audience.

Howard Morrison Jnr, Russell Harrison and Chris Powley come together to breathe life back into songs that helped shape a nation with beautiful harmonies and world class performances whilst at the same time rekindling the forgotten art of entertaining.

The Daily Post, Oct 4 2010
"The magic of Sir Howard Morrison was brought to life in a fitting tribute concert in Rotorua last night. The How Great Thou Art concert was performed by the Howard Morrison Jnr Trio at the Rotorua Convention Centre last night to a packed, toe- tapping, singing and clapping crowd.

"Singers Howard Morrison junior, Russell Harrison and Chris Powley brought the stage alive with songs from the original Sir Howard Morrison Quartet in the 1950s to 1970s, including Waikato, which made the foursome famous. Photographs of the original group which flashed across a screen as their favourite songs were sung took the audience on a musical trip down memory lane.

"Songs like Where Have All the Flowers Gone, How Can You Mend a Broken Heart and Once In My Life were well received. Lady Kuia Morrison said it was a "fitting" tribute to her late husband. "It was lovely," she said. "He would have been very pleased. "Trevor Maxwell said it was a fitting tribute to Sir Howard and his family. "I had to wipe away a few tears," he said. "[Sir Howard] loved the stage. "Howard, Chris and Russell put together a beautiful tribute. "I closed my eyes for a moment and I thought it was him up on the stage," said Mr Maxwell."
