Heather Wilcock Fundraiser

In February this year, Heather Wilcock won the NAPTA award for Best Actress in a Leading Role - Musical for her portrayal of Roberta in Centrestage Theatre’s The Railway Children.

Last year Heather also won a partial scholarship to attend the New York Film Academy’s Musical Theatre 2 year course. Heather heads to New York on Boxing day this year to start her 2 year scholarship. The difficulty is that the tuition fees are $30,000 USD each year of which Heather’s scholarship pays $12,000 towards.

“It’s very bitter sweet” says Viv, Heather’s mum. “It’s an honour that Heather was accepted into the school and that she won a partial scholarship – it’s just so difficult trying to find the necessary funds for the rest. The Wilcock family have been doing everything they can to raise as much money to help Heather follow her dreams and have 2 fundraising concerts being held at Centrestage Theatre on Saturday 22nd October – See attached poster.

At only 17, Heather has performed and had lead roles in numerous shows over the years at both Centrestage Theatre and Orewa College as well as touring as a guest performer with her singing teacher Lisa Lorrell’s professional group.

The New York Film Academy is just metres down the road from Broadway which is where Heather dreams of performing. We urge Heather’s Theatre family to come and support her in her quest to take make it to Broadway! The concerts are at 2pm & 7:30 on Saturday the 22nd October. Centrestage Theatre Committee have donated the venue and their time. Local entertainers performing with Heather include Lisa Lorrell, Devin Ashton, Nikki Kent, Ainslie & Danielle Davies.
